The living room’s original stone
fireplace,
above,
is now topped by an
easily hidden flat-screen TV. A
passageway with pocket doors leads
to the porch sitting area.
The Meilerts lengthened the dining
room,
opposite top,
by adding a bay
that bumps into the porch. When
there are many guests, they add card
tables that extend right out the
French doors.
A galley kitchen,
right,
reflects 1932-
era styling with its brackets, glass-
fro nt cabi n ets, farmhouse sink, and
quilted tile behind the stove. Biscuit-
color beadboard backsplashes break
up the robin’s egg blue cabinetry.
Columns on the portico,
opposite
bottom,
are the same style as those
flanking the living room’s half-wall.
